Jacqueline McAleese was a key speaker at the Lawyers in Schools Information Evening, hosted and supported by the Law Society of Northern Ireland, on 10th May 2017. This information evening was aimed at helping members of the profession learn more about the Citizenship Foundation’s Lawyers in Schools programme, a unique skills based volunteering opportunity for law firms and in-house legal teams. The team of volunteers from Carson McDowell also attended the evening and were on hand to answer questions from the audience on their experience of the programme. Carson McDowell was delighted to be selected as the first law firm to deliver the Lawyers in Schools programme to young people in Northern Ireland

The attendees heard from Jacqueline on her experience in leading the Northern Ireland pilot of the programme within Carson McDowell and the many benefits of getting involved. The attendees also heard from representatives from the Citizenship Foundation, another volunteer firm and the participating students themselves.

Attendees also had the opportunity to take part in a taster activity from one of the Lawyers in Schools modules, which were specifically adapted by the team of volunteers at Carson McDowell, to outline key aspects of the law in Northern Ireland.

Then event was very well received by all in attendance and it is hoped that more local Law Firms will now get involved in extending the Lawyers in Schools programme within Northern Ireland.
