Carson McDowell were delighted to welcome a number of secondary school students to our offices on Murray Street today, to give them some insight into what they might expect should they choose law as a career. The 9 students who attended the event came from a number of schools from across the province and were mentored on the day by partner Gerard Armstrong, solicitors Claire McCloskey and Rebakah Nevin and trainee solicitors Rosie Timoney and Jacinta Conway.

Gerard first talked to the group about how a law firm functions and the day to day activities undertaken by a solicitor. After that the pupils partook in a series of activities including a negotiation exercise, a question and answer session with the solicitors and a talk from Marie McKeown, our HR manager, on how to create an effective CV.

Speaking about the event Gerard Armstrong said, “We were delighted to host this event and to hopefully inspire the young people who attended to seriously consider a career in law. We have a strong relationship with Business in the Community and really enjoy working with them on events such as these. Special thanks to Claire, Rebekah, Rosie and Jacinta who all really made an effort to make the event such a big success."
