"This respected employment team handles a range of personnel-related issues for local businesses, the two main universities in the province, health trusts and a cross-border public body set up under the Good Friday Agreement. In addition to providing client seminars on recent age discrimination laws, significant work flows from the group's corporate practice and covers such matters as contracts, policy reviews and TUPE-related transactions."

Carson McDowell's Employment Team understands the HR/employment issues and challenges facing its clients.

The Team's clients are primarily employers.  The Team acts for a range of clients from public sector to small, local businesses to internationally known, publicly owned companies. The Team's client base also straddles a range of industries which include education, retail, financial and professional services and media/entertainment.   The Team provides employment law advice to a significant number of the companies listed in the Top 100 Companies in Northern Ireland 2009.

The Team provides a range of services from telephone ‘helpline' advice, holding on site HR clinics, advising on employee disputes and contentious matter, project managing large scale reorganisations and a full insurance backed employer product.

The addition of Lisa Bryson from Eversheds in London to the Team means that the Team can now offer employment law advice in relation to matters arising in England and Wales as well as Northern Irish matters.  This removes the need for a number of our clients to seek legal counsel in England in addition to a legal advisor here and provides consistency across the clients' HR practices on both sides of the water.

The Team also helps educate their clients.  This training may be in the form of bespoke training to meet a particular training need or in the form or update email

briefings or the Team's regular breakfast briefings.  If you would like to be included on the circulation list for our email updates and breakfast briefings please contact a member of the Team.
