Neil Allsopp - Associate
Neil attained a degree in law (LLB Honours) from the University of Northumbria in 2001 prior to embarking on a year out travelling the world. Neil subsequently trained with Carson McDowell and qualified into the firm’s Real Estate Team and spent over two years practicing in the commercial property field, before joining the firm’s Litigation Team to develop a Real Estate Litigation Practice. Neil therefore has experience in both non-contentious and contentious property matters and regularly advises both private and public sector clients on a whole range of property issues and disputes.
Neil’s main body of work involves his attendance before the Chancery Judge at the High Court in Belfast, however, he is regularly before the full spectrum of Courts in the jurisdiction. Neil represents his private and public sector clients on all aspects of property litigation including, contractual disputes, landlord and tenant issues, dilapidations claims, business tenancies issues, rent review, accommodation agreements and criminal damage claims. Neil also carries out a range of work on behalf of banks and other financial institutions in litigation, to include debt recovery, enforcement of security and is increasingly advising Liquidators, Trustees in Bankruptcy and Administrators; Neil is regularly before the Bankruptcy Court in this regard. Neil’s recent experience in real estate litigation includes representing a development company in enforcing 120 contracts for sale of new build apartments at one of Belfast’s premier apartment developments.
Neil is currently the only Northern Irish member of the Property Litigation Association (‘PLA’). The PLA is a members’ organisation for professionals specialising in all aspects of commercial, residential and agricultural property litigation.
