10 students from schools around Northern Ireland participated in a Work Inspiration Session at Carson McDowell on 28th January in partnership with Business in the Community.

Carson McDowell has been involved in this programme for over 4 years and since beginning have welcomed over 170 students into the firm for the session. They students take part in a series of activities which focus on enhancing their CV’s, interview techniques and give them the opportunity to participate in organised discussions on legal issues and a workshop on the various pathways to law. They also have the opportunity to lead a negotiation exercise with the students splitting up and playing opposing legal teams.

Rosie Timoney, a solicitor in the Carson McDowell Corporate team who is involved in the sessions said: “This group were lively and articulate and responded brilliantly to the tasks they were faced with. The feedback from them was excellent. It is great to be able to send the students away from the session enthused and engaged.”

The programme aims to influence students and help them decide which career path they hope to pursue. Work Inspiration works with employers, to ensure that students’ vocational interests and career choices are matched to their work placement or inspiration.
