Carson McDowell Marathon Relay Team Raises Money for The Boom Foundation
06 May 2014
A relay team from Carson McDowell entered the recent 2014 Belfast Marathon to raise funds for The Boom Foundation - The Philip Wilson Sarcoma Cancer Foundation.
Claire McCloskey, Karen McElroy, John McGarrity, Rosie Timoney and Richard Gray each ran a leg each of the 26.2 mile event, which took place on Monday 5th May.
The team completed the race in a very impressive time of 3hrs 44mins and have raised the fantastic total of £450 so far for what is an extremely worthwhile cause
The money raised by The Boom Foundation is split between practical help and vital research. 50% of funds raised remain in Northern Ireland to be used locally for the benefit of sarcoma patients, whilst the remaining 50% of our funds are sent to Sarcoma UK to try to achieve the best possible standard of treatment and care for patients with sarcoma. The Boom Foundation is run on an entirely voluntary basis and therefore incurs no overheads by way of salaried staff - every penny raised goes directly to the patients. The team would like to thank everyone for all the support they received in the lead up to the marathon and for all the generous donations received!
