Carson McDowell Raises £1,500 for Mencap

02 July 2015

Carson McDowell has raised a total of £1,500 for the Mencap 'Big Step Forward Appeal' by holding a ‘School’s Out for Summer’ table quiz.

The unique event, organised by the Carson McDowell Charity Committee, was held in Belfast’s Ten Square and was hosted by Headmaster (and Real Estate Partner!) Dawson McConkey who was assisted by a number of Prefects (pictured below).  The quiz took everyone back to their school days with each round being based on a different lesson subject, including Maths and English Literature.  There was even a well-stocked tuck shop open on the evening! A mixture of clients and staff of the firm attended and an impressive victory was claimed by a team from GRAHAM Construction.

Vanessa Elder, Regional Fundraising Manager for Mencap commented, “I am absolutely thrilled by the generous support received from Carson McDowell through the 'Schools Out for Summer' quiz. Thanks to the clients and staff of the firm who put their brains to the test- we are one step closer to opening our new children and families' centre . Through fundraising initiatives like this Carson McDowell are helping children with a learning disability and providing much needed support  for their families. The impact of that ‘big step’ and Carson McDowell's £1,500 donation will be felt by families in Northern Ireland for years to come.”

Michael Johnston, Managing Partner at Carson McDowell added, “We are really proud to have raised this fantastic amount for such a worthy charity and I would like to thank all our staff and clients for getting involved and making such an effort”.

We would also like to thank those who sponsored raffle prizes on the evening including, Chain Reaction Cycles, SHS Group, Ten Square, Dale Farm, Gap Wines, Royal Belfast Golf Club, Space NK, Clear Pharmacy and Direct Wine Shipments.
