Respected claims expert Karl Redmond has joined Carson McDowell as a consultant in our Dublin office.

Mr Redmond has a wealth of experience gained during a 19-year career managing high profile clinical defence litigation claims.

As Northern Ireland’s largest law firm, the Carson McDowell Dublin office opened in 2016, with a team who primarily work in the healthcare and professional negligence sectors.

Mr Redmond was previously a Clinical Claims Manager at the State Claims Agency (SCA), part of the National Treasury Management Agency (NTMA), which manages clinical negligence claims on behalf of the Irish state. He has also worked in the insurance sector, where he was a senior claims negotiator for US Company Travelers Insurance between 2000 and 2008 and he continues to be a member of the Irish Insurance Institute.

Roger McMillan, Managing Partner at Carson McDowell, said: "The firm has been steadily growing its presence in Dublin with a particular focus on healthcare work, so we are delighted to secure someone of Karl’s stature and experience. This is very much a strategic appointment for us reflecting the continuing frequency of clinical negligence claims in Ireland.

Karl is an experienced claims professional and accredited mediator with a proven track record of managing some of the most high-profile clinical negligence claims in Ireland to their conclusion. As recent interest in these sensitive cases has shown, there is increasing scrutiny on medical professionals and, as demand for defence work grows, our business in this area and having someone with Karl’s background working for the firm will prove invaluable."

Karl Redmond, Consultant at Carson McDowell said: “I am really excited to be joining the firm as it continues to expand its team in Dublin. I am looking forward to adding to the formidable medical negligence expertise that already exists in the business.

To help service the demand for our work Carson McDowell intends to take on two further solicitors who specialise in the sector in Dublin in the coming months.”
