APSE seminar - 'Social Media and digital technology – strategic context and practical applications’

A seminar looking at the potential for social media in local government, the fit with digital strategy and the modernisation agenda and highlighting case studies.
This seminar will consider the building blocks needed to put in place an effective digital technology strategy and social media as part of that and will highlight real examples of their use supporting public service providers, elected members and the frontline services they deliver. Those attending will gain a deeper understanding of the technology, how it can benefit their organisations and service users and some of the pitfalls to be avoided.
At the seminar Sarah Cochrane, Solicitor at Carson McDowell will be delivering a talk on the some of the legal practicalities of developing social media in local government. Her talk will cover issues such as:
- The legal risks of social media use by employees in the local government context;
- Key issues in the workplace to consider and manage; and
- Common pitfalls and essential safeguards.
