Employment Law Breakfast Briefing: Recruitment - A Refresher
17 June 2014
Practice Area: Employment Law
For the last few years, the word “recruitment” has rarely passed the lips of our employment lawyers. In fact, the only “r” word that we used regularly was “redundancy”.
Happily, it looks as if that tide is turning: only last week Ulster Bank confidently reported that local economic recovery is gaining momentum, and that employment rates are growing. A few days later, the government’s Labour Force Survey reported that the NI unemployment rate has continued to fall, now for 15 consecutive months.
With the employment market on the up, our next breakfast briefing will focus on recruiting employees, providing a practical summary of the key issues to help make sure your processes are robust and legally compliant.
The key issues that we will cover in this briefing include:
- equality and discrimination issues in recruitment;
- offer letters, pre-conditions and other contractual issues;
- not a match made in heaven? Using probationary periods effectively.
