Claire McCloskey - Associate
Admitted in England and Wales in 2012 and in Northern Ireland in 2012, Claire is dual-qualified to practice as a solicitor in Northern Ireland and in England and Wales.
Claire graduated from the University of Sheffield in 2009 with a 2.1 in (LLB honours) Law with Spanish, and a distinction in spoken Spanish. As part of her degree she spent a year studying Spanish Civil, Constitutional and Criminal Law at the University of Oviedo in Northern Spain.
She completed her training contract with a leading law firm in Manchester in August 2012, having undertaken the firm’s bespoke LPC+ at the College of Law, and joined the banking and finance team in Carson McDowell upon qualification.
Claire advises banks, borrowers, and financial institutions in relation to all aspects of non-contentious banking and restructuring, including acquisition finance, specifically real estate finance, general corporate lending, and multi-jurisdictional transactions. Since joining Carson McDowell, she has been involved in several high-value and high-profile transactions in the spheres of both banking and restructuring.
Between 2017 and 2018, Claire was seconded to the Northern Irish in-house legal team of one of Ireland’s leading banks for six months, advising on a broad variety of legal issues affecting banks and customers.
